Moonlapse is a free game run as a hobby by two people in Australia (“we”, “us”). These terms apply when you use the game, this website, or a Moonlapse account. By making an account or playing, you agree to them. If you don’t, please don’t use Moonlapse.
How we handle your information is in the privacy policy. Questions about either: privacy@moonlapse.net.
Who can play
You need to be at least 13. If you’re under 18, check with a parent or guardian first.
Your account
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens on your account.
- If you think someone else has got into it, change your password and sign out your other devices from your account page, and tell us.
- If you sign in with Google or Discord, their own terms apply to your account with them.
- You can delete your account at any time from your account page.
How to behave
Moonlapse is a shared world. While you’re in it, don’t:
- harass, threaten, or abuse other players, or post hateful, sexual or illegal content in chat, mail or names;
- share anyone else’s personal information;
- pretend to be one of us, or another player;
- cheat: use bots, macros that play for you, or modified clients to get an advantage, or deliberately use bugs to do so. If you find a bug, please tell us;
- try to get into accounts that aren’t yours, or attack, overload, or interfere with the game, the website or the sign-in service;
- sell or buy in-game items, gold or accounts for real money.
Character names have to follow these rules too. We may rename a character whose name doesn’t.
If you break these rules, we may warn you, mute you, rename or reset your character, or suspend or delete your account, depending on what happened. We’ll usually tell you why. If you think we got it wrong, email us.
The game itself
- It’s a work in progress. Things will change, break, and be rebalanced. We may need to reset characters or the world, though we’ll try hard not to.
- In-game items and gold have no real-world value. They aren’t yours to sell, and we don’t owe you anything for them if they’re lost, changed or removed.
- It may be down, sometimes without warning. We run it in our spare time. If we ever shut Moonlapse down for good, we’ll say so on this website first, as far ahead as we can.
- The game, its world, art, text and software are ours. You’re welcome to download the client and use it to play, and to share screenshots and videos of the game.
No guarantees
Moonlapse is free, and provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we make no promises that it will be available, error-free, or suitable for any purpose, and we aren’t liable for any loss that comes from using it or not being able to.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or under the law where you live, that can’t lawfully be taken away.
Ending things
You can stop playing and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms, or close Moonlapse altogether.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and for a significant change we’ll email account holders before it takes effect. Playing after a change means you accept it.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
